Some weddings have a natural rhythm of their own. Anika and Josh’s wedding at the beautiful Pencarrow was one of those days.
With the Cornish sunshine shining down and a relaxed atmosphere from the very beginning, they had a clear vision for their wedding music. Each part of the day would have its own distinct character, from laid-back jazz during the drinks reception to timeless wedding classics that would bring everyone together on the dancefloor.
They wanted their music to feel considered, personal and perfectly suited to each moment, without anything feeling overly formal or forced.

With guests enjoying the summer sunshine at Pencarrow, the drinks reception called for something effortlessly sophisticated.
Live jazz piano provided the perfect soundtrack, bringing a touch of understated elegance to the afternoon while guests mingled, enjoyed a drink and soaked up the surroundings.
As the drinks reception drew to a close, I used a pre-mixed jazzy playlist to keep the atmosphere going while I moved my keyboard to another part of the grounds for the wedding breakfast.
Behind the scenes, I had also set up my DJ equipment before guests arrived, helping to keep transitions to a minimum and ensuring the celebrations could continue without unnecessary interruptions.
These details might happen out of sight, but they make a real difference to how the day feels. Rather than waiting for equipment to be moved or music to be reset, Anika and Josh’s guests could simply enjoy every moment.
A Sophisticated, Yet Relaxed Wedding Breakfast
For the wedding breakfast, Anika and Josh wanted a different musical feel: a blend of classical pieces and familiar pop favourites, bringing together timeless elegance and something a little more personal.
Live piano provided the soundtrack as guests settled in for the meal, creating an atmosphere that felt polished yet relaxed.
It was a natural progression from the jazz-filled drinks reception, but with its own distinct identity. The music complemented the setting, allowing conversations, laughter and the important moments of the meal to take centre stage.

As the evening celebration began, the atmosphere shifted once again.
It was time for the wedding classics: the songs everyone knows, the tracks that bring different generations together, and the kind of music that keeps people on dancefloor all night.
But one of the most memorable moments of the evening wasn't a dancefloor anthem.
At just the right moment, the music paused so Josh, a Cornishman who grew up nearby, could join his friends and family in singing “My Cornwall, My Home.”
It was a wonderfully personal moment, bringing everyone together through a shared connection to Cornwall. A reminder that the most memorable wedding moments aren't always the ones you can plan on a playlist; sometimes, they're the moments that mean the most to the people in the room.
And then came the finale.
As the evening drew to a close, Anika and Josh were lifted onto the shoulders of their guests, surrounded by friends and family singing their hearts out together.
No elaborate production. No complicated choreography. Just two newlyweds, and their favourite people all in one place.
It was the perfect ending to a truly special day.
