Hi everyone,

I previously started this blog before the website went down. Since then we have made a few changes and we have been pretty busy, but we wanted to bring the blog back to interact with everyone and give you guys the opportunity to get to know us a little more again. After all, if you do want to hire us for entertainment for your day, you may have to have quite a bit of contact with us!

One of the big changes for the business is that we are re-locating to Cornwall. I grew up in St Ives in Cornwall, and after moving away for university and later a job in Wiltshire, I decided that I have to come back. St Ives will be our base to start with – we can’t wait. Stu has never lived in Cornwall before but has fallen in love with it on his visits down with me and the gigs he has done so far. Plus, what is not to love?!… Pablo and Phoebe love it too… I think they are the most excited about it.

Another big change in our lives is that we are now married. We tied the knot, at The Carbis Bay Hotel on the 17th September and it was incredible, so much fun and we both had the best day. Getting married has really let me understand the stress all you brides and grooms are under and the importance that suppliers have on the day and the difference they can make. I am not going to concentrate on entertainment today (although I have to say, having a great DJ and band really made the evening!)

1. Photography and Videography – These two things have really made a difference and making sure you choose the right people to fit with your day makes a huge difference on the day itself. We used the fantastic Cruz Photography and the TJH videography. Dom and Janssen Cruz are absolutely lovely, incredible people and were a joy to have around. Dom giving us little bits of knowledge like which side my mums flower should be on was invaluable and Janssen was constantly running around making sure he got all the right photos and even holding my bouquet when my arms got tired (THEY ARE HEAVY). Tim, our videographer was silently in the background, I genuinely forgot he was there, which is exactly what we wanted as I thought it could have really put us off or made us anxious. He became part of the day and was brilliant. The highlights video summed up our day perfectly.

The videography and photography has made a huge difference since the wedding too, making it possible to re-live everything. If you can – invest here as it makes such a difference.

2. Personalise – We wrote our own vows. Me and Stu are not the typical romantic type, so we wanted something a bit different and didn’t want to make the ‘normal’ promises to each other. It made such a difference and guests were commenting on it all day.

Essentially, if you like traditional vows, then great, go with that, if you are not so keen, then make it your own. Your day should reflect you as a couple and I feel like that is one thing that we managed to achieve, and we are so pleased that we did. There are loads of suppliers around to help make all of this possible, our florist, Anna from Wedding Flowers in Cornwall really helped me envisage things and help make my ideas possible and let us have a mix of our own things, and hired items to make it a polished but personal look. A good events co-ordinator makes it all much easier too.

3. IT IS SO MUCH FUN – I completely underestimated how much fun having all of my favourite people together would be… we had so much fun… enjoy it. Let the suppliers do their thing – they are professionals so let them do it. Our band and DJ arrived and set up and I had barely realised. I thought I would be needing to make sure things happened during the day, I did nothing but have photos taken, talk to people, dance drink and have a bloody good time. This is the way it should be. Chill out and let us lot sort it all out!

They are my 3 top tips from the things I learned from our brilliant day.

If you guys have any other queries then give us a shout. We are moving to Cornwall very shortly and we can’t wait to get involved with you guys and your day! Send us a message with any queries.

Speak soon,

Lauren
